THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 22. The Pettah police have arrested a 28-year-old youth in connection with the murder of Kuttan alias "Pettah" Kuttan on the national highway near Eenchakkal on December 9. The police identified the accused as Praveen (28) of Thazhassery. An official said Praveen had sought the help of a rival gang to murder Kuttan who is accused in several crime cases registered in the city. According to the police, Kuttan had demanded Rs.2,000 as protection money from Praveen who owns an autorickshaw workshop at Chakka. The police suspect Praveen to have summoned Kuttan at the behest of the assailants. The accused was produced before the court on the charge of murder and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
