HYDERABAD, FEB. 22. A dispute between producers and director of the Telugu film `Dhairyam' over alleged increase in the film's budget led to registration of cases and counter cases against each other. One of the five producers, Sridhar, approached the Ramgopalpet police on Monday saying he had received threatening calls from the followers of the film's director Teja. The same evening, Teja's wife, Srivalli, sought help from the Banjara Hills police stating that Sridhar rang up their house threatening to kill her husband and children.
Dispute
The dispute began with the film producers, Narayanadas Narang, N. Sudhakar Reddy, Sunil Narayana, Sridhar and Vijaykumar, complaining to the Andhra Pradesh Film Chambers that the production cost of the film escalated from earlier estimates of Rs. 6 crores to Rs. 9 crores due to Teja's fault. The matter was under the consideration of the chambers, Sridhar said. Even as the complaint was being investigated into, Sridhar allegedly began receiving threatening calls from persons claiming to be Teja's fans. "The callers threatened to kill me if we failed to withdraw our complaint in the film chambers," Sridhar maintained. Meanwhile, Ms. Srivalli of Road No. 45 in Banjara Hills, met the local police seeking protection from the producers. According to her, the five producers drove to her house in two cars and prepared a sketch of their house suggesting that they were planning to raid it.
