Letters to the Editor
Sir, Now that the dust has settled down on the Bihar elections, complete with the usual reports of violence and goondaism, one wonders what is the purpose of the periodical democratic exercise in a State where things do not change at all. Cannot the Election Commission think of some other way of dealing with the situation? If the trend continues, democracy in States such as Bihar will remain only on paper.
M.R. Prasad,
Sir, A large number of persons facing criminal charges have contested the elections in Bihar. How many of them are going to become law-makers, we will have to wait and see. Is this state of affairs healthy for democracy?
Parag Deka,
