K. S. V. K. Subbarao, Director of JIPMER, pleads with the striking employees to join duty, in Pondicherry on Wednesday.
PONDICHERRY, FEB. 23. Health services at the JIPMER here were partially affected as a section of the employees went on a token strike demanding withdrawal of disciplinary action against some of the employees, on Wednesday. On Monday, five employees- three-security staff, one librarian and an employee in the radiology department- were suspended.
Demanding withdrawal of suspension orders, the employees resorted to a three-hour strike starting in the morning affecting the services in the outpatient unit. The employee joined duty only after the JIPMER Director assured them that he would look into their demand.
