COLOMBO, FEB. 23. The Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Minister, Lakshman Kadirgamar, is scheduled to visit New Delhi later this week to thank India for its support and assistance after the December 26 tsunami devastation. During his "brief working visit," Mr. Kadirgamar will meet Indian leaders and interact with the media. India was the first country to send assistance to Sri Lanka after the tsunami, which claimed over 30,000 lives in the coastal districts spread across northern, eastern, southern and south-western Sri Lanka. Indian relief workers were involved in a range of services, including emergency medical relief and supplies, setting up relief camps, clearing debris and reconstructing broken bridges.
