SHIMLA, FEB.23. The State Committee of the CPI (M) at its meeting here today decided to launch a Statewide campaign against the fiscal reforms Memorandum of Understanding signed between the State and Central Governments. In a statement, the party said it would expose both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party for "deceiving the people of the hill State". The left party would hold a workshop of intellectuals in the State capital on March 26 to discuss various implications of the fiscal MoU for the common population of a backward State like Himachal. The party's State Committee has also criticised the atrocities committed on Dalits in Santokhgarh in Una district. The Government, it says, has itself let the situation go out of hands after remaining intolerant over the issue of temple being raised down. It has demanded the compensation for all who were injured in the police lathi-charge. In the run up to the 18th Party Congress in Delhi in April various activities including seminars and talks on topics like `imperialism, globalisation, privatisation and the cultural onslaught on the problems being faced by the people in the Hindi heartland' would be held. The intellectuals from the State would participate and present papers at the national capital next month. About 3000 activists from the State would participate in the mass rally of party on 11th April.
