Widow blames State, police for Paritala's murder

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR, FEB. 23. The widow of Paritala Ravindra, P. Sunita, on Wednesday alleged that the State Government and the police had colluded in the killing of her husband on January 24. She also expressed dissatisfaction over the investigation of the case as none of the conspirators named in the complaint had neither been questioned nor arrested.

At her maiden press conference at her residence in Venkatapuram village of Ramagiri mandal, 75 km from here, she said threat to her life, her children and close relatives was still persisting.

"I don't think they (rivals) will keep quiet even after killing him (Ravindra)," she said. There was no safety to them under the Congress Government, she feared, and explained that security was not provided to her in spite of the party seeking it. "The SP has not even asked about the necessity of security to myself and my family," she said.

Gunmen changed

Elaborating on her allegation of the Government-police collusion in her husband's murder, Ms. Sunita said that aged gunmen were provided to her husband just three days before the murder.

Of the five-plus-five gunmen allotted to him, only D. Mahabub Basha, who was killed along with Ravindra, was with him for about a month and the remaining were new.

From November 15 to January 24, the gunmen were changed once in every 10-15 days and they had proof for that, she said.

Reiterating that Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, Suri, Bhanumati, Konda Reddy, J. C. Diwakar Reddy and R. P. Meena were the conspirators of her husband's murder she said the probing agency had not even questioned any of them.

Ms. Sunita alleged that the police had foisted cases against the followers of Ravindra making them responsible for the violence after his murder.
