Nellore
By Our Staff Reporter
NELLORE, FEB. 23. The Superintending Engineer, AP Transco, Nellore, R.V. Chalapati, has said that in tune with the recent announcement by the Government modifying the eligibility for free power supply, the Corporation has undertaken a survey which will be completed by March 25. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the official said that the district had about 95,000 farm connections and each farmer would be given a format, seeking details about payment of income tax, extent of land and the number of pumpsets. The survey particulars would be displayed at all Transco offices on March 25 and thereafter, objections would be sought for the next fortnight. After consolidating the material and examining the objections, a final list would be displayed later. Mr. Chalapati said that each farmer had been requested to have an appropriate capacitor, trouble-free valves, smooth plastic pipe and an ISI mark pumpset. These, he claimed would ensure saving of power and also act as a protection against low voltage. According to the official, the time limit for having capacitors and foot-valves had been extended up to March 2006 and for laying of pipelines up to March, 2008. Those applying for free power should have all these facilities, he stated.
