Hot spell continues

Forecast: Partly cloudy sky. Day temperatures likely to continue above normal in some areas. Waltair, the maximum temperature was 29.9 degree Celsius and the minimum was 22.5 degree Celsius respectively on Wednesday.

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 77 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 73 per cent.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 34.2 degree Celsius and 22.2 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 73 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 63 per cent.

The maximum and minimum temperatures were 30.8 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively at Dolphin's Nose. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 82 per cent.

FP camp

Over 1,000 family planning operations were conducted on Wednesday under the aegis of Rotary Club Visakha Port City, to mark the Centenary Day of Rotary International.

The camp sponsor and the Deputy General Manager of HPCL, Gaekwad, handed over a cheque for Rs.50,000 to the club president, Anuradha Reddy.

Hawkers fined

The Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (VMC) as part of its sanitation drive spotted hawkers selling eatables in unhygienic conditions and persons dumping garbage on the roads and drains, and realised Rs. 55,650 from them as fine.

Two dormitories run at the Satya Surya Complex without licence were also raided as was a coffee parlour.

Park development

The Municipal Commissioner, N. Srikant, has advised his staff to prepare plans for development of Lakshmi Talkies Park in old city, construction of vegetable market, and prepare estimates for renovating the Victoria Statue to regain its past glory.
