New bus terminus to operate 1,000 schedules

BANGALORE, FEB. 23. The new Shanthinagar bus terminus will operate 1,000 schedules to different parts of the city. It provides people with a 56,000 sq. ft of space on the first floor where 100 two-wheelers and 180 cars can be parked.

The BMTC Managing Director, Upendra Tripathi, said that some portions of the building will be let out to earn revenue to repay the loans taken for the construction of the terminus. A post office and other passenger amenities will come up in the building. Similar bus terminuses have been planned at Kengeri, Yeshwnathpur, Domlur, Yelahanka and Hebbal among other places.

The BMTC announced operation of buses in four new circular routes, including two from the new terminus. They are route no. 159: Shanthinagar bus station to Shanthinagar bus station via Richmond Circle, GPO, Swastik Circle, Malleswaram, Rajajinagar ESI, Sujatha talkies, Sirsi Circle, K.R. Market and Lalbagh. Route No. 225-S: Shanthinagar bus station to Shanthinagar bus station via K.R. Market, Sirsi Circle, Pantharapalya, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Chennasandra, Uttarahalli, Vasanthapura, Konanakunte Cross, Banashankari and Jayanagar bus station.

Route No. 206: Nandini Layout to Nandini Layout via Mahalakshmi Layout, Modi Hospital, Shankar Mutt, Havanur Circle, KHB Colony, Vijayanagar, Bapujinagar, Chamarajpet, Hanumanthnagar, Hoskerehalli, Padmanabhanagar, Banashankari, BTM Layout, Madivala, Adugodi, Mayo Hall, Indian Express J.C. Nagar, Mehkri Circle, Yeshwanthpura and ISKCON.

Route No. 207: Kavalbyrasandra to Kavalbyrasandra via Ganganagar, Mehkri Circle, Yeshwnathpur, Modi Hospital, Havanur Circle, KHB Colony, Vijayanagar, Mysore Road-Ring Road Junction, Hosakerehalli, Banashankari, BTM Layout, Madivala, Koramangala, Srinivagilu, Indiranagar, Ulsoor, M.G. Road, GPO, Vasanthnagar and Thimmaiah Garden.
