HYDERABAD, FEB. 23. The Central Excise and Customs, Hyderabad zone, has realised Rs. 2,252 crores revenue till January against the targeted Rs. 2,902 crores for the financial year 2004-05. In addition to this, Rs. 317 crores and Rs. 293.36 crores were collected as Customs and Service Tax till the same period. The Hyderabad zone covering nine districts of northern Andhra Pradesh is celebrating the Central Excise Day here on Thursday. The former Chief Election Commissioner J.M. Lyngdoh, and Onkaar Nath, Chief Commissioner, Customs and Central Excise, Hyderabad zone, will take part. In a statement, the Commissioner, Hyderabad I Commissionerate, R.J. Beley, said there was a steep increase in Customs work at Hyderabad airport in view of increased flow of international traffic, both passengers and cargo. E-filing of Central Excise returns and Electronic Data Interchange system for online clearance of import and export goods were introduced for the convenience of people.
