Bangarappa to tour Shimoga district

SHIMOGA, FEB. 24. The Shimoga MP, S. Bangarappa, will tour his native district for four days from March 2, addressing his supporters and interacting with people at various levels to seek their support for the State unit of the Samajwadi Party to be formally launched on March 12 in Bangalore.

Giving details about Mr. Bangarappa's itinerary, the Convenor of Bangarappa's Admirers' Association, M. Nagendra Rao, told newspersons here on Wednesday that Mr. Bangarappa's tour in the district would give a boost to his new party which was expected to bring about drastic changes in the political scenario in the State.

He said Mr. Bangarappa's tour would begin with a workers' meeting at the Basaweshwar Samudaya Bhavan in Bhadravati at 11 a.m. on March 2.

It would be followed by another meeting at the Satya Dharma Kalyan Mantap at Holehonnur at 1 p.m.

He said the second day's programme would commence with a workers' meeting at the Lion's Kalyan Mantap at Sorab at 11 a.m. to be followed by another meeting at the Brahmins' Samudaya Kalyan Mandir at Sagar at 1 p.m. The third meeting on that day will be held at the Jain Mandir at Shikaripur at 3 p.m.

The third day's programme, he said, would begin with a meeting at the Vidya Mandir at Hosnagar at 11 a.m., which will be followed by another meeting at the Bantara Bhavan at Tirthahalli at 2 p.m.

Mr. Bangarappa's tour would conclude on March 5 with a district-level meeting at the Adichunchanagiri Samudaya Bhavan in Shimoga at 11 p.m.

Mr. Nagendra Rao said Mr. Bangarappa was likely to announce his resignation from the MP's post at the State-level meeting in Bangalore on March 12.
