People throng temples for `Masi Maham'

Devotees offer prayers to the utsava idols of various temples on the occasion of `Masi Maham' in the coastal village of Vaithikuppam in Pondicherry on Thursday.

PONDICHERRY, FEB. 24. Hundreds of devotees from Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu offered prayers in the temples at Vaithikuppam village on the occasion of `Masi Maham' today.

The coastal village has traditionally been venue for the celebration of the Masi Maham.

The utsava idols of Sri Subramania Swamy temple of Mailam, Sri Ranganatha Swamy of Gingee and Sri Poyyamozhi Vinayakar of Theevanur in Villupuram district were brought to the seashore for the `theerthavari.'
