Quarterfinalists spotted

NEW DELHI, FEB. 24. J. Pankaj helped Secundrabad beat Ernakulam and Ooty on way to the quarterfinals of the all India inter-YMCA basketball tournament here on Thursday.

Friday's quarterfinal line-up will feature Bombay `A' against Ernakulam, Calcutta against Coimbatore, Secundrabad against New Delhi `B' and New Delhi `A' against Visakhapatnam.

The scores: Group `A': New Delhi `B' 53 (Manish 16, Pratap 15) bt Hyderabad 49 (Mark 25, Nitin 12); Bombay `A' 66 (Obala 27, Donald 13, Rajnikanta 12) bt New Delhi `B' 42 (Varun 13, Manish 10).

Group `B': Visakhapatam 53 (Nitin 11, Riaz Khan 10) bt Kollam 36 (B.V. Dorababu 15, Abdul Sattar 11).

Group `C': Secundrabad 69 (J. Pankaj 21, Dennis 16) bt Ernakulam 55 (Manoj 17, Bajijin 16, Anil 14); Secundrabad 73 (J. Pankaj 20, Ninal Yadav 17, Dennis 10) bt Ooty 41 (Vikram 22).

Group `D': New Delhi `A' 85 (Sanjay 34, Birender Singh 30, Vinoy Verghese 16) bt Coimbatore 77 (Ethiraj 19, Dinesh 17); Coimbatore 63 (Dinesh 18, Ethiraj 17, Deva 10) bt Bombay `B' 54 (Suraj 19, Manish 16).
