Watery grave for three sisters

By Our Staff Reporter

CUDDAPAH, FEB. 24. A pall of gloom descended on the family of a milk vendor, Seelam Venkataramana Reddy, when his three daughters were drowned in a watershed dug-out pond at Nawabpet village in Mylavaram mandal on Wednesday.

The three sisters -- Seelam Savithri (11), Sarala (9) and Munisanthi (7) -- who went to assist her mother, S. Jayamma (35), in washing their milch cattle, met watery grave when they slipped into the pond. Jayamma jumped into the pond in a bid to save her children, but was rescued by a villager, Golla Subbarayudu. She was admitted to the Jammalamadugu Government hospital.
