BANGALORE, FEB. 24. Thieves reportedly tried to burgle the Bank of Maharashtra's branch in the Shankarapuram Police Station limits in the early hours of Thursday. The police said that around 4 a.m. a few persons gained entry to the bank on Uttaradi Mutt Road by cutting open the window grills. When the intruders tried to enter the strong room, the alarm went off. The thieves fled before the mobile squad (Hoysala) reached the spot. The police alerted the bank manager whose telephone numbers were available on the bank premises. The police said the thieves had not taken away anything from the bank though they had ransacked some documents.
