DUTA stages dharna

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, FEB. 24. Demanding quick implementation of the Agnihotri Committee report on ad hoc/temporary teachers, the Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) today staged a demonstration in front of Vice-Chancellor Deepak Nayyar's office on the North Campus.

As part of its ongoing social boycott, DUTA also announced a black flag demonstration at the inauguration of the annual flower show on the North Campus on Friday.

Accusing Prof. Nayyar of violating University provisions, DUTA also demanded that an Academic Council meeting be called to discuss the recent University Grants Commission (UGC) letter about the composition of a selection committee for lecturers and principals.

Condemning what it described as systematic dismantling of the democratic and participatory system of university governance, DUTA charged that chaos had been let loose in the name of academic reforms -- especially in the matter of internal assessment.
