NEW DELHI, FEB. 24. Two persons have been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly using fake "physically handicapped" certificates to avail of 50 per cent concession on railway tickets. According to the police, the Vigilance Unit of the Railway Board had been tipped-off about the racket. Following a specific tip-off, a vigilance team apprehended one Vidyadhar, a resident of Seemapuri, when he was booking two tickets to avail of the concession on the basis of fake certificates from Shahdara railway reservation centre. He was handed over to the Mansarovar Park police. Vidyadhar told the police that the forged certificates were sold to him by Zahid Pervez, a resident of Ekta Vihar in North-East Delhi. Zahid was also arrested. The police have recovered several stamps, blank certificates and other accessories from his hideout. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they have been printing fake certificates and availing of concessions for the past one year. Most of the certificates were purportedly issued in the name of R.K. Atri, the Chief Medical Officer of LNJP Hospital. However, investigations revealed that there was no doctor by that name in the Hospital. Further investigations in the case are on.
