NEW DELHI, FEB. 24. Four alleged robbers were arrested following an encounter with the police at Narela in North-West Delhi on Wednesday. A country-made firearm and a live round were recovered from their possession. According to the police, Sub-Inspector Ram Chander received a tip-off that some robbers had gathered near Holambi Khurd Phatak to plan a crime. Subsequently, a team raided the place and challenged the suspects to surrender. However, they tried to flee upon which Ram Chander opened fire in the air. One of the culprits, later identified as Qasim Khan, also opened fire. The four suspects were soon overpowered. During interrogation, the other three accused identified themselves as they Munna Rai, Raju Chauhan and Karan Thakur. They revealed that in December last they had robbed a man of Rs. 10,000 near the place from they were arrested. On February 16, the accused robbed another man and his friends of Rs. 30,000 and other goods, after injuring him. At their instance, the police have recovered Rs. 2,300 and four stolen watches. The police said the accused had been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Tis Hazari courts.
