100 per cent FDI

Sir, — A new era has begun for the construction industry with the Government allowing 100 per cent foreign direct investment. The move will help generate employment for skilled and unskilled workers. It will also help break the nexus between builders and unscrupulous elements in most cities. It will bring new technologies and better safety standards for faster and improved construction.

Sir, — With the recent easing of controls on diversion of agricultural land, chaotic and reckless diversions have peaked. The availability of agricultural land is declining to dangerously low levels. The fragile environment of the country has already suffered irreparable damage. The Centre's move is likely to further increase raids on agricultural lands.
