BMP Commissioner's appeal to corporators

BANGALORE, FEB. 25. The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Commissioner, K. Jothiramalingam, on Thursday appealed to corporators to approach the High Court and get a direction, which will enable the civic body to raze illegal shrines.

At the BMP Council meeting, the Commissioner cited the example of Madurai, where citizens had filed a public interest litigationin the court. "After the court ordered that all illegal shrines should be demolished, over 58 of them have been razed. If you also get a similar order we can start our job," he said.
