THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 25. S.N. College, Chempazhanthy and Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE), Kariyavattom were on Friday adjudged the best performing colleges in the field of sports under the Kerala University during 2004-05. While the Chempazhanthy College picked up the honours in the men's section and lifted the G.V. Raja Memorial Trophy, LNCPE was awarded the Susan Mable Memorial Trophy as topper in the women's section. The trophies were awarded at the annual sports merit awards function at the University Senate Hall here today. Besides these awards, a total of Rs. 5,68,000 were also distributed to 317 sportpersons who had represented the University in various all-India inter-University tournaments. Of this, Rs. 4,000 each were distributed to 67 sportspersons as sports scholarship, while 250 others received a cash incentive of Rs.1,200 each. The cash awards were distributed by the former swimming international, Sebastian Xavier.
