HYDERABAD, FEB. 25. The Leader of the Opposition, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has demanded resignation by or dismissal of the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, accusing him of being involved in factionalism. Addressing a media conference after the Assembly was adjourned for the day, Mr. Naidu demanded the Centre's intervention if Dr. Reddy refused to step down. He was not sure about demanding President's Rule in the State although he said that the TDP had taken a principled stand against Article 356. The party had advocated invoking Article 356 sparingly in an "extraordinary'' situation. He said such a situation indeed prevailed in the State but hesitated asking the Centre to act. The killing of 46 TDP activists in faction violence since the Congress returned to power last year should be probed by a sitting Supreme Court Judge, he asserted. Similarly all those figuring in the First Information Report related to Ravi's killing should be arrested, a special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation be constituted to try Ravi's case and provision of Central Police security to his family.
`Shift Suri to Tihar jail'
The TDP president wanted Maddelacheruvu Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri, the prime accused in the car bomb explosion at Jubilee Hills here in 1997 when Ravi escaped miraculously, be shifted to the Tihar jail since the culprits in the case had easy access to each other at the Cherlapalli jail here.
