BANGALORE, FEB. 25. Four persons reportedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in their houses on Thursday. A newly married woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Kumaraswamy Layout police station limits as her husband allegedly tortured her for a bigger dowry, according to the police. They said that around 6 a.m., Savitha (20) hanged herself with a sari from the ceiling of her house in Chandra Layout. Savitha, daughter of Karagaiah of Harihara village in Kanakapura taluk, married Nagaraj, a painter, two months ago. Karagaiah has lodged a complaint with the Kumaraswamy Layout police alleging that Nagaraj tortured Savitha for dowry. The Kumaraswamy Layout police have registered a case. Rajesh (25), a hotel employee from Shamanna Garden in Silver Jubilee Park police station limits, Prashanth (26), a cloth merchant from Bagalagunte in Peenya police station limits, and Sumithra (19) from Goruguntepalya in RMC Yard police station limits committed suicide by hanging themselves in their houses, the police said.
