Good day for Indian teams

NEW DELHI, FEB. 26. Indian teams occupied three of the top four slots in the team championship of the Eveready 104th all-India amateur golf championship at the Delhi Golf Club course here on Saturday.

On the opening day, India `C', represented by Amardip Sinh Malik (72) and Gagan Verma (73) tallied 145 for a four-stroke lead over India `A'. The best home combination struggled since Gaganjeet Bhullar could only card a 77 while Simarjeet Singh producd a 72.

Sri Lanka `A' and India `B' were the joint third place after aggregating 155 each.

The scores: India `C' (Amardip Sinh Malik 72, Gagan Verma 73) 145; India `A' (Simarjeet Singh 72, Gaganjeet Bhullar 77) 149; Sri Lanka `A' (Chandradasa 75, K. Prabhakaran 80), India `B' (A. S. Lehal 77, Vikrant Chopra 78) 155; Bangladesh (Md. Siddikur Rahman 73, Md. Mosen Mea 83) 156; China (Pan Chang Tsung 81, Chung Ming Chuan 81) 162; Pakistan `B' (Wasim Rana 79, Adil Jehangir 85) 164; Pakistan `A' (Aimal Zaman 80, Vaquas Ahmed 86) 166; Sri Lanka `B' (Mithun Perera 83, Vinupa Wijesinghe 84) 167; Nepal (Shiva Ram Shrestha 84, Tashi Gahle 88) 172.
