TIRUNELVELI, FEB.26. Students, who are pursuing higher studies, should take part in seminars and group discussions with much dedication so that they can outwit others in a highly competitive scenario, according to the Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Tirunelveli Region, R. Ramanarayanan. Delivering the convocation address at the St. Xavier's College at Palayamkottai today, Dr. Ramanarayanan said higher education in all colleges and universities had undergone tremendous changes in the recent years. Hence, the students must positively respond to these changes, opting for new innovative courses, which were once offered only by some foreign universities till recently. These courses stepped into India, thanks to a revolution in the field of Information and Technology. The students of higher education should make use of these opportunities, he said. "The students should utilise all facilities being provided to them by the administration in the right sense to broaden their knowledge so that they can create the economically stronger India by 2020 as visualised by the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam," the Joint Director said. Dr. Ramanarayanan lauded the efforts being made by Jesuits to provide the education with the "highest standards" and their thirst for introducing more and more job-oriented courses every academic year. A total of 275 students, including R. Periyadurai, a visually challenged student, received certificates on the occasion.
