KATHMANDU, FEB. 26. The VHP leader, Ashok Singhal, endorsed the royal takeover saying it was necessary to curb the Maoist terror in the kingdom. Mr. Singhal also criticised India's decision to suspend military aid to that country after the February 1 takeover. ``I welcome the emergency rule imposed by King Gyanendra and all the Hindu community in India supports the move by the world's only Hindu King to save the Hindus of Nepal from the Maoist terror,'' Mr. Singhal, working president of the VHP, told a press conference here after meeting the King on Friday. ``I paid a courtesy call on the King as usual, but we did not talk about politics.'' Mr. Singhal is here to attend a World Peace Oblation being organised at the Pashupatinath temple coinciding with `Maha Shivaratri.' PTI
