HYDERABAD, FEB. 26. The Minister for Endowments, M. Satyanarayana Rao, inaugurated e-Darshan, an online pilgrim-centric booking service on Saturday for accommodation and various `sevas' on Tirumala. The counter at the office of the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), he said, was the first of 33 such facilities to be located at all district headquarters in the State and metropolitan cities across the country and activated in a phased manner. After inaugurating the facility, he said with this system in place, no devotee had to go around Ministers and officials for recommendation letters. The switching over to the online centre meant that anyone could directly approach any of the 33 offices and book his or her accommodation, `archana anantara darshan' and other `arjitha sevas' from a minimum of two to 60 days in advance, he said.
TTD funds
To a question about the Government's view on utilisation of TTD funds, he said, the money came from devotees and hence it should only be used for upkeep of temples and help improve the lot of `archakas'. The Endowments Department and the TTD, Mr. Rao said, would work harder to streamline the systems and make things easier for devotees who thronged Tirumala and Tirupati from all parts of the world.
