CHENNAI, FEB. 27. With the Tamil Nadu Government issuing the gazette notification, all 41 police stations, hitherto in Chengalpattu East police district, have come under the jurisdiction of the Greater Chennai police Commissionerate. The city police Commissionerate will now have under its control 155 police stations, including 34 all women police stations. After the Government issued the order annexing the suburban police stations with the Commissionerate, the city police was awaiting the notification to take over. The notification has been issued and it took effect from Friday. The annexed police stations have started sending their daily situation reports to the Commissionerate, a senior city police officer told The Hindu . The Government is yet to appoint the Deputy Commissioners for the newly-created police districts in the Commissionerate. The posting orders are likely to be issued in a couple of days.
