MADURAI, FEB. 27. The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Tamil Nadu) in Madurai has been chosen by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to function as its nodal agency in the State for conducting entrepreneurship awareness camps in science and engineering colleges. According to R. Jayaraman, Member Secretary, CED, the centre would help colleges in conducting the camps and also provide the grant-in-aid support given by the DST. A total of 95 camps were sanctioned for the year 2004-05, to be enhanced to 300 from the next year. Colleges have been suggested to identify 60-100 final year graduate/post-graduate students for attending the entrepreneurship awareness camp and the CED would provide the course material. He said the centre is also planning to organise a training programme for nodal officers identified by the colleges on how to conduct camps on entrepreneurship. Mr.Jayaraman said the Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education was also supporting entrepreneurship promotion as a major activity to be initiated in colleges across the State. The CED would also assist universities to establish Entrepreneurship Development Cells in their campus. Any college proposing to conduct camps on entrepreneurship awareness could avail grant-in-aid support by writing to the Member Secretary, CED (Tamil Nadu), Perungudi, Madurai 625 022.
