By Our Correspondent

ADILABAD, FEB. 28. An unidentified naxalite was killed on Monday afternoon in an exchange of fire between the special party police and the Indervelli dalam members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist).

One unidentified person was taken into custody by the police as he was found near the place of the encounter. According to the Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations), A. Sattar Khan, the encounter was between 4 pm and 5 pm at Babapur village of Ichoda mandal, 15 km away from national highway number 7.

The police recovered from the scene a claymore mine, two kit bags, medicines and party literature.

Dump unearthed

Our Karimnagar Staff Reporter writes: The Manthani police unearthed a dump of naxalites in the hillocks of Sithampalli in Manthani mandal and recovered Rs. 1 lakh in cash and some incriminating documents on Monday. The Godavarikhani ASP, Ch. Srikanth, said the dump belonged to the DCM, Dharmula Mallikarjun alias Srinu, who was killed in an encounter with the police in Gadudalagandi forest on Friday.

The documents revealed that naxalites were planning a major offence in the east division by attacking vulnerable police stations.

CPI(ML) seeks probe

Meanwhile, the CPI (ML) New Democracy has demanded a judicial enquiry by a sitting judge into the encounters at Gadudalagandi and Gopalpur.

R. Subash Chandra Bose, secretary of the party, in a statement in Hyderabad condemned the encounters and wanted policemen responsible for the encounter killings punished.
