Tollgate fee issue to be probed

HYDERABAD,
FEB. 28.
The Roads and Buildings Minister, J. Rammohana Rao, on Monday told the Assembly that the Chief Engineer (Roads & Buildings) would be asked to enquire into the issue pertaining to collection of excess fee at the tollgate near Keesara on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway.
Responding to a zero hour mention by S. Uday Bhanu (Congress), he said information would also be sought from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). Claiming that excess rates were being charged at the tollgate, Mr. Bhanu said an amount of Rs. 90 was being collected for RTC buses, as against the fixed rate of Rs. 25.He also said that higher amounts were being collected for cars and light motor vehicles.

Padma Devender Reddy (TRS) raised the issue of violation of the Presidential order and G.O. 610 in appointments in the High Court and the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal and wanted the Government to rectify the same. She said out of 68 posts of Assistant Government Pleaders, only 12 were from Telangana. Zero hour mentions were also made by J. Ranga Reddy (CPI(M)), G. Demudu (CPI), D. K. Aruna (Samajwadi Party), L. Raja Rao ( BSP) and T. Venkata Rao (Congress).
