Musicologist dead
NEW DELHI,
FEB. 28.
K.R. Kumaraswami Iyer, renowned musicologist and retired Principal of Sri Swati Tirunal Music College, Thiruvananthapuram, died here today after a brief illness. He was 93.
Prof. Kumaraswami Iyer had an illustrious career as a musician and teacher.
Among his disciples are K.J. Yesudas and Tiruvizha Jayashankar.
He is survived by his wife, two sons (K. Anantha Padmanabhan and K. Sriram) and a daughter, Vasanti Krishna Rao, Reader in the music faculty of Delhi University.
The funeral will be held here on Tuesday.
