Temperature

TIRUCHI, FEB. 28. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 34.9 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 18.9 degree Celsius.

Accident

Chellappa (50) of Kannanurpalayam was fatally knocked down by a moped at Kannanurpalayam near Pulivalam today.

Police sources here said he was walking on the road when the two-wheeler hit him killing him on the spot. The moped rider Vijayakumar has been arrested.

Killed

A youth was allegedly murdered at Keelakarthigaipatti near Thottiyam on Sunday.

The police said Kanjaperumal was allegedly having illegal intimacy with Selvam's wife Poovayee.

When a trouble broke out, Kanjaperumal attacked Poovayee and Selvam with a sickle.

Poovayee was injured while Selvam was killed on the spot.

The Thottiyam police have registered a case. They have cited Kanjaperumal, his wife Chandra and another woman Nacharammal (50) as accused in the murder case.

Youth held

Sivakumar (32) who allegedly attacked Annakodi (38), his relative, with a sickle causing injuries has been arrested. The incident occurred at K. Kallikudi near Ramji Nagar on Saturday.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 55.36 feet today. The inflow was 150 cusecs and there was no discharge.
