HYDERABAD, FEB.28. Sixty Government schools in five mandals of Hyderabad district got science kits and labs as part of Naandi Foundation's `Ensuring Children Learn Program' (ECLP) on the occasion of National Science Day on Monday. The District Education Officer, Jagannath Reddy, unveiled many science-related programmes for about 2,500 Government schoolchildren at Dareeche Bawaheer School in Bahadurpura.
Science made easier
The science kits comprise simple tools aimed at making science accessible to children who come from underprivileged backgrounds. A mobile planetarium and science laboratory, brought from Warangal, proved to be a big attraction with children jostling to have a look. A Naandi release said the programme, taken up by the State Government, DFID of UK, Sarva Shiksha Abhyan, Naandi and civil society, is to make Government schools important centres of learning for these children.
Inter-school event
The Science Day celebration is part of on going `Bala Vigyan Mela' in 300 Government schools in the city till March 3. It is an inter-school event for providing a platform for talented children to showcase their potential, the release added. For details, contact Ph.No.9848597014.
