VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 28. The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority Chairman, P. Suryanarayana Raju, gave a categorical assurance to fishermen that they would not be affected by the tourism projects being taken up on the Beach Road. He gave this assurance to a delegation of fishermen, led by the Coasta Matsyakarula Sangham president, T. Shantaram, which submitted a memorandum to him. He said that fishermen would be provided employment through these projects, wherever possible. The VUDA Chairman said that he would be the first person to launch a struggle, if the fisherfolk had to be shifted to facilitate widening of the Beach Road into a four-lane one. He said that the interests of the fishermen's villages both in Visakhapatnam and Bheemunipatnam would be taken care of in the execution of the developmental projects.
