VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 28. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked the Government to ensure that the local fishermen and other weaker sections are given the Gangavaram port rehabilitation package and alleged that the persons supported by the local MLA are creating problems for the locals. A senior leader of the party, P.V. Chalapathi Rao, along with other leaders, J. Prudhviraj and N.V.N. Prakash Reddy, submitted a memorandum to the Joint Collector on Monday on this issue after coming to know about the incidents at Gangavaram. Mr. Chalapathi Rao said that the BJP would raise the issue in the Assembly if necessary.
