Letters to the Editor
Sir, The people of Bihar have given a fractured mandate but clearly, it is against the RJD. Even Muslims and the backward castes have shifted their allegiance to the Lok Jan Shakti Party of Ram Vilas Paswan. In this situation, it is better to have President's rule in the State.
Prabhakar Singh,
* * * Sir, This refers to the editorial, "UPA scores own goals" (Feb. 28). In breaking up with the RJD, the Congress indeed committed a blunder. The voters were confused by the absence of a grand secular alliance. The fractured mandate is the result of the wrong signal. To honour the people's mandate, no party or alliance should stake claim to form the next government.
N. Sivaraman,
* * * Sir, Wrong strategy and poor election management have taken their toll.
Ravindra Agnihotri,
* * * Sir, The man on Bihar's centre stage is Mr. Paswan who has been calling for President's rule. However, that will play right into Mr. Lalu Prasad's hands. It will give him time to make adjustments.
A. Bandyopadhyay,
