COLOMBO, MARCH 1. The Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC), Sri Lanka's ruling ally, on Monday patched up its differences with the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA), after a meeting with the President, Chandrika Kumaratunga. "The problem is sorted out," a Miniister from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the main party in the ruling coalition. The Minister did not give details of the compromise worked out. The CWC, with eight MPs, is a significant bloc in the ruling alliance, which came to power after the April 2004 parliamentary election. The CWC and the ruling alliance reportedly had differences on political, environmental and law and order related issues.
