PONDICHERRY, MARCH 1. State Bank of India launched its latest product `SBI card' here last week. The facility would be available for customers in the neighbouring Villupuram and Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu also as the area of operation of the bank covers these districts also.

Addressing customers who had enrolled themselves as patrons of the SBI card at a function here today the Deputy General Manager of SBI (Local Head Office, Chennai), K. Venugopal, said that SBI card and the bank would soon notch the top position from the third position at present.

The SBI card has now been introduced in Pondicherry through all its seven branches operating here.

He said with all obvious parameters the bank had been delivering services adding value and registering acceptance by the customers.

The Chief Executive Officer of SBI Card, Roopan Asthana, who formally launched the product and distributed the cards symbolically to some customers said at present the product had been introduced in 60 locations in different parts of the country and soon this would go beyond 100 locations.

The National Sales Manager, Deependra Jain, the Assistant General Managers of SBI, M. Rajendran and T. Srinivasan (Pondicherry branch), and V. S. Mani, Assistant General Manager of the Bank (Public Relations wing in Chennai), were among those who spoke.
