Shetty is new IDBI Chairman

MUMBAI, MARCH 1. In a major reshuffle of top public sector bank chief executives, V. P. Shetty has been appointed as Chairman of the Industrial Development Bank of India while Anil Khandelwal has taken over as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Baroda.

The Government order announcing the appointment of Mr. Shetty, who is now the Chairman and Managing Director of the Bangalore-based Canara Bank, was issued today, an IDBI official said.

At present J. N. Godbole, wholetime director, has been officiating as Chairman following the appointment of M. Damodaran as Chairman of SEBI.

Bank of Baroda chief

Meanwhile, Anil Khandelwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Dena Bank, today assumed charge as CMD of Bank of Baroda. Prior to the appointment as CMD of Dena bank, Mr. Khandelwal was the executive director of the public sector bank, BOB said in a release. B. K. Nair, Executive Director, will take charge of Dena Bank for three months or till the appointment of new CMD, whichever is earlier, according to a Dena Bank official. — PTI
