Deadline extended for ration card applications

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, MARCH 1. The Government today extended the deadline for submission of filled-in application forms for renewal of ration cards to March 6.

Following requests made by persons who have not received the forms and those who have not submitted the completed applications for renewal of cards for the period 2005-2009, the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, has given them a last opportunity, says an official release here.

Eligible persons who have updated their cards with renewal slips can receive the forms from the fair price shops concerned and submit the filled-in forms at the designated centres on March 5 and 6.

Even in the case of failure to attach the renewal slips, the beneficiaries can receive fresh application forms from taluk supply offices in the districts and the office of the Assistant Commissioner (civil supplies) in Chennai city after showing their non-updated ration cards. They can submit the forms in these offices.
