Happy Birthday Inzy

DHARAMSALA, MARCH 2. Right from the day, the Pakistan cricketers landed in New Delhi, it has been birthday time for some of them.

Opener Yasir Hameed, medium pacer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and Shahid Afridi have already celebrated their birthdays over the past three days. What more, Inzamam ul-Haq joins the list on Thursday when he turns 35.

There is a big surprise that awaits the genial Pakistan captain when he arrives at the ground for the tour-opener against Board President's XI.

Besides the customary cake, banners wishing "Inzy Bhai" and birthday songs from the public address system will be in place. In fact, the organisers have ordered 2,000 `ladoos' to be distributed to the spectators in the morning session.

Irrespective of the outcome of the series, Inzamam is sure to remember it for reaching a significant landmark of his Test career. He is well on course to play his 100th Test, in Bangalore, the venue of the third and final Test of the series.

The other birthday boys on the tours, Hameed and Naved had their birthdays on February 28, the day Pakistan commenced its tour and reached New Delhi. The two were born in 1978 and went on to make their Test debut in Karachi. Shahid Afridi blew birthday candles on Tuesday evening, hours after arriving here. — Our Special Correspondent
