CHENNAI, MARCH 2. A series of road shows covering Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, and New Delhi, is being held to woo Indian travellers, especially the Meeting, Incentive, Conference, and Exhibition (MICE) segment, to Spain. The European country received 85.6 million tourists in 2004, a 4.6 per cent increase since 2003. At a press conference as part of the road show here today, Paloma Notario, Director, New Markets, Spain Tourism Board, said there was a plan to introduce an India-centric campaign. "We attach great importance to the Indian travellers," Mr. Paloma said. Leisure and cultural tourism would be the two major factors attracting overseas visitors, including Indians. Ignacio Ducasse, Acting Director of the National Tourist Office of Spain, Australia, New Zealand and India, said that over 17,000 Indians visited Spain especially using the direct passport control through its New Delhi embassy office.
