BANGALORE, MARCH 2. RSB, Kochi, came up with a good show in the second-half, to beat Tamil Nadu 65-50 and set up a title clash with RSB, Jaipur, in the all-India civil services basketball championship here at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Wednesday. In the semifinal, RSB, Kochi, survived some anxious moments in the first session with Royston and Madan Gopal, the consistent strikers for Tamil Nadu, always posing a threat. At the break, Kochi led 38-27. But in the second session, Kochi hit back with Joseph John leading the charge. It quickly took control in the third quarter and maintained a clear edge through the session and emerged as a worthy winner. In the other semifinal, RSB, Jaipur, prevailed over RSB, Mumbai, 95-89 in extra-time after the teams were level at 83-83 at full-time. Earlier in the quarterfinals, Kochi defeated Delhi 51-28, while Jaipur drubbed Chennai 82-57. The results: Semifinals: RSB, Kochi 65 (Subash Shenoy 12, Joseph John 19, Vivek 10) bt Tamil Nadu 50 (Royston 18, Madan Gopal 12); RSB, Jaipur 95 (Ashok Kumar 33, Md. Haryyn 29) bt RSB, Mumbai 89 (P. Deshmukh 29, Paresh 22, Vijay 13). Quarterfinals: RSB, Kochi 51 (Joseph John 12, Raj Tommy 12, Santosh 10) bt Delhi 28 (V.S. Ahalat 12). RSB, Jaipur 83 (Ashok Kumar 32, Mohd. Haroon 145, Dilip 15) bt RSB, Chennai 57 (Joseph Xavier 21, Radhakrishnan 14).
