Motorcyclist killed

TAMBARAM, MAR. 2. A 43-year-old man died when his moped was hit by a car at Camp Road, Selaiyur, near Tambaram this morning.

Selaiyur police identified the victim as V. Gurumurthy, an accounts employee at a Government office in the Kuralagam complex.

He was taken to a private hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Worker dies

A 28-year-old worker died after he fell into a sewage treatment plant at a private company in Karapakkam near Thoraipakkam on Tuesday. Thoraipakkam police identified the victim as Murugesan of Kalaimagal Nagar, Eekkattuthangal, near Guindy.

Murugesan had lost consciousness when he was pulled out of the pit. He was declared dead on arrival at the Government Royapettah Hospital.

Boy drowns

A 13-year-old boy was drowned at the Perungudi lake while bathing on Tuesday. G. Selvakumar of Avvai Nagar, Tiruvanmiyur, skipped classes and went to the lake for a bath, the Thoraipakkam police said. He was studying in the eighth standard.
