BANGALORE, MARCH 2. The State Government will release Rs. 8 crores in a week's time towards rebate for outlets under the Khadi and Village Industries, the Minister for Industries and Infrastructure, P.G.R. Sindhia, said here on Wednesday. Mr. Sindhia was speaking at the valedictory of the Khadi India 2005, a national-level khadi and village industries exhibition organised by the office of the Commissioner for Khadi and Village Industries, Mumbai, and the Karnataka Khadi and Village Industries Board. Mr. Sindhia said from April 1, rebate will be given once in six months at khadi outlets. Exhibitions to promote khadi and village industries are being organised in all districts in the State. To a suggestion of the freedom fighter V.S. Krishna Iyer that government departments, especially the government hospitals, use khadi for their needs, Mr. Sindhia said the Government will consider it. M. Mallikarjun Kharge, Minister for Water Resources, said khadi symbolises patriotism, freedom struggle and also secularism. K.S. Satyamurthy, Chief Executive Officer of the Khadi and Village Industries Board, said goods worth Rs. 6.80 crores were sold at the exhibition. Of this, Karnataka's share was Rs. 4.90 crores. N.
