NAGERCOIL, MARCH. 3. Deserving artistes in five age groups have been chosen to receive the State Government's `Best Artistes awards' to be given away by the District Arts Society, said the Kanyakumari Collector, Sunil Paliwal. Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, he said `Bharata Natyam' exponent, S. Deepti, of Arumanai would receive the `Kalai Ilamani' award in the under-18 category, the `Koothu' exponent from the Kani tribe, Thovalai Chithravel, would receive the `Kalai Valarmathi' award in the 19-35 age-group category, a stage artist, R.M. Manju of Karungal, would receive the `Kalai Nanmani' award in the 51-60 age-group and a `Villupattu' exponent, S.M. Maharajan, would be awarded the `Kalai Mudhumani' award in the above-60 category.
