MOSCOW, MARCH 3. Russia has not and will not in future supply defence products to Pakistan, said the Russian Defence Minister, Sergei Ivanov. Defending Russia's proposed delivery of ground-to-air missiles to Syria, the Russian Defence Chief said Russia was more scrupulous in selecting its defence partners than the West. "We do not have and will not have any military-technical cooperation with Pakistan, while Western countries are selling weapons to that country which has nuclear arms," Mr. Ivanov said. During his visit to India in December, he warned that Russia could consider opening defence trade with Pakistan if India continued to source spares and upgrades to Russian-built weapons from third countries. "Otherwise, don't ask us not to trade with Pakistan," the Itar-Tass news agency quoted Mr. Ivanov as telling reporters in Delhi.
