TIRUCHI, MARCH 3 . About 2.32 lakh copies of the revised Plus-Two textbooks worth about Rs.48.41 lakhs have been sold in Tiruchi, Perambalur and Karur districts so far, according to the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Textbook Society, K. Thangamuthu. In Tiruchi district, about 1.65 lakh copies have been sold while in Perambalur and Karur districts nearly 67,000 copies have been sold. Speaking at the consultative meeting with district officials here today, Mr. Thangamuthu said adequate stocks of the revised Plus-Two textbooks had been moved to all districts, nearly 30 per cent over and above the anticipated demand. The revised textbooks for Standard X of the matriculation stream have also been supplied to the retailers. Free textbooks to the student beneficiaries would be distributed before the re-opening of schools after the summer vacation, he said. Later, Mr.Thangamuthu, along with the Collector, V. Pandian, and the District Revenue Officer, P.Senthil Kumar, inspected about four acres of government land near the Tiruchi Airport for construction of godown for the society in the city. The land would soon be handed over to the society. Earlier, Mr.Thangamuthu also inspected the sale and availability of the revised textbooks at a few retail shops in the city.
